Chemical Plastic Valve
A chemical plastic valve is an integral part of most common plastic irrigation systems. It works by supplying water inlet pressure through the valve to the main water supply system with the help of a rubber or metal valve and creates water seal for the purpose of restricting water supply. Apart from the common uses, this type of valve is also used in industries such as pharmaceuticals, food processing, cosmetics, cosmetic products, petroleum refineries, pulp and paper mills etc. This valve can be designed as per your specific needs and can even be custom-made to suit the exact specifications.
These types of valves are available in a number of common materials like polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polycarbonate (PC), polysulfone (PS), polystyrene (LS) etc. Most of these valve varieties are commonly available in hardware stores at reasonable prices. But before buying any particular variety, it is very important to know about its pros and cons. The primary advantage of using these chemical plastic valves is that they restrict the flow of water only when the excess pressure builds up against the valve body. Also, the valves can be installed in such a manner that the outlet port is at the same level as the inlet port.
As the PVC, PC, polysulfone and polystyrene are commonly used, the valve bodies come in a variety of attractive shapes. However, the common problem faced by most of the users is that the expansion of the plastic material occurs at a high rate and the valve body gets deformed due to such factors. Moreover, when the valves are installed in a low pressure area such as a kitchen, the valve body tends to get damaged easily because the pressure of the kitchen water constantly exceeds that of the valve body.
If the valve faces a constant external force, then the pressure will increase continuously. So, it is very important to properly install these valves in such a manner so that it does not face any sort of problem. The external force will constantly expand the valve body if the valve faces south, west or north. In case the valve faces east or west then the valve faces constant contraction which will eventually affect the working of the valve. On the other hand, the PCV valve faces constant expansion and contraction which result in the movement of the water through the pipe.
One of the best ways of installing these valves is through the use of threaded inserts. However, the threaded insert will not help in restricting the flow of water through the valve. Instead, it will help in keeping the valve body in a closed state. Also, the plastic chemical valve can be fitted with the help of external ball. This kind of valve can resist the pressure of the moving water through it. This is one of the best ways of preventing the expansion and contraction of the plastic material present inside the valve.
Another disadvantage of using the chemical plastic valves is that the pressure-sensitive element present in them can be controlled by using external ball. But this aspect can be overcome by making use of the right kind of valve material such as the silicone material. Another important thing to be kept in mind is that whenever you install a valve always make sure that it does not face any sort of resistance. This is because the existence of resistance will only add up to the weight of the valve and will also affect its performance.
